According to a recent report, New York City’s unemployment rate has dropped to a historic low of 4.2%, with job gains in virtually every sector. However, the report also found that Black workers are being left behind. The report found that the unemployment rate for Black workers in New York City is still more than double the rate for white workers. Furthermore, the report found that even when Black workers do find work, they often find themselves in jobs that pay far less than their white counterparts. The report also found that many of the job gains have been concentrated in industries that are traditionally dominated by white workers. For example, the report found that the job gains in finance and technology have primarily gone to white workers. This means that many Black workers have not been able to benefit from the recovery.
